John Perez

Managing Director, UNC Health Ventures

John joined UNC Health Ventures in 2024. As a Managing Director, John co-leads the corporate venture fund of UNC Health, with a strong focus on digital health investments. John also serves on UNC Health's AI Center of Excellence, supporting the health system's strategy and approach for leveraging AI across the enterprise.

John brings more than a decade of experience in digital health and strategic investing to UNCHV, with a focus on strategic venture capital investments, innovation and financial consulting. John currently serves as an observer on the boards of 410 Medical and Carta Healthcare.

Prior to joining the team, he served as Managing Director at Ballad Ventures, the corporate venture fund for Ballad Health. Additionally, John served as a Director at Abundant Venture Innovation Accelerator (AVIA) Network where he designed, launched and led AVIA’s Venture Network, a group of more than a dozen health systems with more than $750 million in collective assets under management dedicated to investing in promising digital solutions.

John earned his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Biomedical Engineering from Vanderbilt University.
